Encourage Reading and Thinking Everyday

The I2Books curricula were created to serve your children! Its founders are parents and, as parents, we know how difficult it may be to get your children interested in school and excited about learning. We also know how hard it is to find the right resources and materials for them at just the right time. Available in versions for home and classroom use, In2Books helps families and schools start early to find, develop, and enhance students' passion for learning.

For Children

The In2Books classroom curricula include books on different subjects and written in a variety of styles that your child can read independently. Each of these books is aligned with national content standards. Children choose from our selections in five genres, read these books, and discuss the important issues in them in the classroom and via online letters with adult pen pals. The five genres in the Informed Reader Series classroom program are: fiction, social studies, biography, folktales, and science.

In the home version of In2Books, children are exposed to an even wider variety of genres including, mystery, fantasy, and science fiction. Each genre and individual book has been carefully selected by our panel of children's literature experts to be highly enriching and to engage children in the love of reading and the discovery of their personal interests.

For Classroom Use

In the classroom version of In2Books, your child's teacher receives well-tested online curricular materials for teaching genre and genre-related literacy strategies for use at school and home. In addition, In2Books provides teachers with:

  • Ongoing online resources and support.

  • Strategies for incorporating the In2Books program into the daily curriculum.

About Your Child's Pen Pal

In2Books pen pals are a diverse group of caring adults. They may be parents of children at the school or volunteers from local community organizations, corporations, government agencies, universities, and professional organizations. They are adults of all ages, working or retired, having occupations ranging from lawyer to web designer to stay-at-home parent. Despite their diversity, pen pals have one thing in common --- a commitment to helping school-age children reach their personal and academic potential.

In the home version of In2Books, the adult pen pals are chosen by parents and maybe grandparents, or non-custodial parents, aunts, uncles, family friends or neighbors.

The adult pen pals read the same books as their assigned students, and engage in written conversations online about what they have read. These adult volunteers receive special In2Books online training in how to help students improve their reading and thinking skills - and in how to model good letter writing.

In2Books classroom pen pals do not go to the schools and are never given personal information about your child, including his or her last name, teacher's name, or school's name, unless a specific class or school decides to invite the pen pals to "in class" activities.
